1. Overview
Falah is designed to work privately and offline. We collect as little data as possible. Most features work entirely on your device without any data leaving it. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you control it.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data stored only on your device
The following is stored locally and never transmitted unless you explicitly sign in to enable cloud sync:
- Your location (city name or GPS coordinates) used to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction
- Your prayer log (which prayers you marked as prayed, late, missed, or skipped)
- Your app settings (calculation method, Azan sounds, notification preferences, display options)
- Your notes and mood entries attached to prayer logs
2.2 Data collected when you use cloud sync (optional)
Cloud sync is entirely optional and only activates when you sign in with Apple or Google. If you choose to sync, the following is stored in Firebase Firestore under your unique account ID:
- Your prayer log entries (prayer name, date, status, mood, location tag, note, timestamp)
- Your app settings
- Your streak counts
- Your account profile (display name, email address, sign-in provider)
- Your device FCM token (used to deliver optional push notifications)
We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
2.3 Data collected automatically
When you use the app, Firebase may collect basic technical information including:
- App version and operating system version
- Crash reports and error logs (if Firebase Crashlytics is enabled)
- General usage events (if Firebase Analytics is enabled)
We use this only to fix bugs and improve stability. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
3. Location Data
Falah uses your location to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location is used only for this purpose.
- If you grant GPS permission, your coordinates are used on-device to compute prayer times. Coordinates are stored locally in your app settings.
- If you use cloud sync, your city name and coordinates are stored in Firestore to allow prayer times to be consistent across devices.
- We do not sell, share, or transmit your location to any third party.
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your device Settings. You can also enter your city manually instead of using GPS.
4. Authentication and Accounts
Signing in is optional. If you sign in:
- With Apple: we receive your name (if you choose to share it) and an email address from Apple. Apple may provide a private relay address.
- With Google: we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL from Google.
If you use the same email address across both Apple and Google sign-in, your accounts are merged automatically.
If you sign out, your on-device data remains on your device. Your cloud data remains in Firestore and can be deleted on request.
5. Notifications
Falah uses local notifications to deliver Azan alerts and prayer reminders. These are scheduled on your device and do not require a server connection. If you have cloud sync enabled, Firebase Cloud Messaging may be used to deliver occasional Islamic occasion reminders (such as Ramadan or Eid). You can disable all notifications at any time in your device Settings or within the app.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for targeted advertising of any kind.
